Car Shipping: Transporting Classic Vehicles the Simple Way

Now that you have the need to transfer your luxury, muscle, or classic vehicle from one part of the country to the other, you must choose a car shipping company wisely because they will be taking care of one of your most valuable belongings. Not all transport companies are the same.

The first thing you want to do is to select an upstanding service that specializes in shipping expensive vehicles. You don’t want to choose a company that is general because they may cause harm to your vehicle because they aren’t equipped to ship it properly.

Having an enclosed vehicle to ship your prized possession is an essential luxury option. If the company you’re looking at doesn’t provide this option, don’t even consider it. If the transport truck is not enclosed and sits for any amount of time, your vehicle could be damaged. In addition, it would also be exposed to the elements.

Now that we’re talking about incidents that might occur when the company moves your vehicle, remember to select a company that has pristine insurance coverage so that they will cover any damage that happens during shipping. Make sure to document any damage on the bill of lading when the vehicle arrives and retain a duplicate copy. That way you can properly file an insurance claim with the transport company. Never skip the terms and conditions of the company so that you are aware of anything the transport company might do to get out of paying for damages.

You can find vehicle transport companies for high end vehicles everywhere, but if you reside in Florida or Texas, you may be in luck. There are many Florida car shipping companies available. There are a large number of companies that can be used mostly in the city of Miami. There are also a large number of Texas car shipping companies and they are located mostly in the Houston or Dallas areas.

No matter what company you end up picking, make sure you have the most confidence possible in how well they can move your luxury, muscle, or classic vehicle without causing any damage. When searching for an car transport company, make sure the ones you look for have good customer service that can help you if any problems arise. Best of luck on the shipping of your vehicle and make sure to go on an enjoyable first drive in your new destination so you can do a little sightseeing.

Some Thoughts Why We want an electric fireplace

Do you miss your home fireplace from when you were growing up? I do. We had one in every house growing up yet when I got married we suddenly have never had a fireplace in any home we own. I would love to change that. Unfortunately we don’t have the right area available for a fireplace and the chimney was torn out of our existing house. Installing a “real” fireplace would take forever and cost a lot of money. Time to consider the electric fireplace.

Here are my top reason for why I want an electric fireplace:

1. Easy installation - instructions are included, generally a beautiful mantel comes with it, you just plug it in and have heat.

2. Quick heat without chopping logs - forget the backbreaking labor of cutting wood and storing it on a homemade firewood rack. You can flip a switch and have instant heat from a fireplace with electric fireplace inserts that look like real wood. What could be better?

3. Come in a variety of beautiful styles to fit pretty much any decor - these days the electric fireplace comes with its own electric fireplace mantel surrounding it. They are available in almost every shade and type of wood, or even plastic and fiberglass.

4. Simple to take care of - remember the days of cleaning your chimney flue and shoveling out ashes? Enough said, that was a horrible job. No need to do it with an electric unit.

5. Relatively inexpensive - For a few hundred dollars you can have the full beauty of a fireplace without having to do any remodeling or demolition in your home.

6. Electricity is currently very cheap in my part of the country - this isn’t true everywhere, in some places gas is cheaper, but during today’s high priced world of gas I’ve found electricity to be economical and more efficient.

As you can see there are many incredible benefits to owning an electric fireplace. If your home has the space I would recommend you go on a little shopping trip to see what’s available in your area. There are also many wonderful websites that have these available.

Relocating Children is Hard, Interstate Movers Can Help

If you have decided to relocate to a new city this year, there are a lot of things to think about throughout the process. A family with kids, no matter how old, will have to make some pretty serious adjustments in both attitude and lifestyle. If you are already starting to worry and stress out about this new transition, read on to find out some simple ways to make the transition smooth and easy for your family!

First things first; sit down with your kids early on to let them know of your plan to relocate. The more your children are able to involve themselves in the moving preperations, the better they will handle the news. Be clear with them about the reason for relocating (new job, new opportunities, etc.), and answer any questions they may have with clarity and honesty.

when possible, let your kids have a hand in the choosing of a new house. Take them along with you when you start looking at houses, or let them create a “wish-list” of things they want in a new house. Also, try to look for advantages and opportunities in the new town that will be exciting to your young child or teenager. For example, a large shopping center or a school with a swim team might be just what your teenage daughter wants to hear.

So, you might be wondering where moving companies come in. One of the most important ways to keep your kids excited about the relocation is for you to be excited as well. Sometimes the hassle of packing years of belongings and relocating a lot of large furniture, arranging for a vehicle, and driving can be incredibly stressful. Consider working with long distance moving companies who are prepared to come in and pack and move your things for you. interstate movers are specialized in moving your things across state lines for you so that you can focus on your family.

When you get to your new house, moving companies can take care of loading your belongings into the new place. This will give you time to walk the streets of your new neighborhood with your children. Introducing them to the area quickly and as a family will help to ease the transition. Let them explore the new scenery and amenities of their new city.

Remember that you set the tone of the relocation, so do your best to show your kids that you are excited and happy about the relocation. relocating with children can be a challenge, but if you follow these tips right from the start, your move can be free of stress and worry.

Sauna Traditions

Although first used in Finland, cultures throughout the world use saunas for many (purposes|uses}, from healthful relaxation, to it’s use as one of the traditional social meeting places. In fact, the US is fairly unique by not having an established sauna; ‘culture’.

In fact, the most commonly seen sauna in America is at a gym or spa, but in Finland the use of a sauna is so ubiqutous that you will find a private sauna in almost every house in the country. Many other countries consider sauna treatments a rather normal and usual event, of no more importance than a long, hot bath. This is why saunas are also so plentiful in many European and Asian countries.

In many areas throughout the globe, the sauna experience figures prominently into the social life of most of the countrymen. Eastern European countries such as Estonia, Russia, and Latvia have enjoyed the benefits of saunas for many years. Some also have strict single-sex customs regarding the use of saunas, and one of these countries with very firm rules and customs in this regard is Russia.

Many other countries have both single sex and mixed gneder sauna areas for patrons to enjoy. The countries of Japan and Thailand are two countries that feel a sauna is very beneficial for your health and good for everyone’s health and happiness. Thailand and Japan also have saunas that are both co-ed and single sex in nature.

There are some countries, with colder climates, like Finland where sauna-goers often take rests from the intense heat and humidity of the sauna to go outside and either roll in the snow or take a dunk in super cold lake waters. The general mood in a sauna in any of these countries can be boiserous, with loud joking and socializing by all the participants.

The countries of Germany and Austria take a different approach and the people consider the sauna to be a place of healing and quiet. There is a strict social etiquette that dictates silence and mandatory nudity at all times while in the sauna. German saunas often have ‘Aufguss’ sessions in which a worker will use a large towel to help circulate hot air throughout the sauna. Visitors may not enter or leave once a session starts, because this would release some of the heat to the outside and it would be distracting. The majority of sauna-goers in these countries are grownups, although in Switzerland, one is very likely to encounter families with young kids.

All of the European sauna customs include a cooling-down period that immediately follows a soothing sauna visit. This cool down is considered healthy and can be accomplished with a dunk in a lake, a cold shower or bath, or even a quick run outside through the snow.

A Latin American version of the sauna, called a temazcal is very popular throughout much of Central America. In these countries, individual families will own a sauna, and it is considered an solitary, rather than a group, activity. Tradition says that a person should use the sauna only in the evening so they can enjoy the cool air at night when they leave the confines of the sauna.

Asian cultures often have public saunas, which in many cases serve essentially as public bathhouses for the population as a whole. In Japan, sauna (sento) use has declined, as more and more people are able to buy houses with large private baths or saunas.

In the United States, one does not see any kind of dedicated sauna culture. Health clubs, recreational facilities, or hotels may have a sauna and this is usually limited to members of the same sex. Swimsuits are most commonly seen, but the use of the sauna in America really has no particular social rules associated with it.

Ford Focus 2009

We thought our vision was suffering this past week when we couldn’t find the 2009 Ford Focus electric vehicle on the company’s display. Thankfully, our retinas are just fine; we couldn’t find the car because it wasn’t parked on the stand – it was parked on the roof.

For those who haven’t attended the Detroit show, one of the best ways to park near Cobo Hall is to park on Cobo Hall – access to the convention center is immediate, and visitors avoid as much frigid January weather as possible. That was my thinking in parking there this morning, and it’s a sentiment apparently shared by whoever (we’re safely betting it was a Ford employee on his new Ford Focus 2009) piloted this prototype to the show.

What you can’t see under the decal-heavy exterior is an all-new electric drive system, co-developed by Ford and supplier Magna International. While you can read the details of Ford’s electrification plan here, we’re told the Focus prototype – a preview of a production model due in 2009 – will use lithium-ion batteries and have a range of approximately 100 miles.

We think the fact that it isn’t on the stand has less to due with Ford shying away from the technology, but rather the end product – possibly either a Ford Focus 2009 or Fusion – is nowhere near ready for a formal introduction.

If you’re planning on attending the show and hope this EV makes its way from the rooftop to the show floor, don’t count on it. Ford sources tell us the Focus mule won’t be on display to the general public (hey, it wasn’t for us, either), but a cutaway chassis showing its shocking innards will be available for public ogling.

Saving Money On Smart Home Construction

If it’s your dream to one-up the Jetsons and have more technological gadgets and doodads in your home than you can count on your fingers, there are ways to make the vision reality without destroying your budget. Should you choose to build a smart home from the ground up yourself, you will find money savings opportunities at every corner.

Acting as the owner builder on your project will be the best way to go to realize cost
savings. If you happen to own your own property on which to build or plan on buying some, this option will become wide open to you. While working as the “general contractor” on your home’s construction will take a great effort, it can afford you some incredible budget-stretching options.

The Key To Savings Even if you want to have a high-tech smart home constructed, you can save money on the prospect. The key to making this a reality is to make sure you own the land where you’re going to build. If you do, you’ll be able to oversee the project personally. This can save you thousands of dollars that would normally be paid out to a general contractor.

If you don’t have land and need to purchase some, this is the very first area you can afford yourself some savings. Don’t rush a purchase and make certain to review more than just the location and the looks. It’s the hidden costs involved in building that often hurt the most. To make sure you’re getting a good deal on land, consider such things as:

The work involved in site clearing – While you might want a heavily wooded lot, if
that lot doesn’t happen to include a good open space, you will have to pay for clearing. The availability of infrastructure – If a parcel of land isn’t located near sewer, water, cable and telephone lines, these are things you might have to figure into your overall expenses.

This can add an appreciable amount on to the bottom line if availability isn’t in place. It might be worth it to have the plot of your dreams, but you need to check into the real numbers to be certain. Other features of the property – Take a look at what geographical features are included on the property.

While a lake, for example, might appeal to you, it could end up costing you more for flood insurance coverage. Finding the ideal piece of land on which to build is the first step in making your smart home dream reality. Just take the time to carefully review parcels before making the final selection. Not doing so could wind up costing you a whole lot more down the road.

Wheatgrass - Revealed

You have probably heard colleagues talking about Wheat grass at some point over the last couple of years. Whether it is in a juice bar or from a friend or member of the family already taking one of the many various varieties of wheatgrass but if you’re like the majority of people, you may still not understand wheatgrass or the true healing power wheatgrass harnesses.

Wheat grass is simply the young blades of grass from wheatgrain. When the grain is soaked and planted it develops shoots within a few days. A few days later these shoots develop into blades of lush green grass. In as little as 8-10 days the wheat grass is ready for harvesting, At this stage it is worth noting that although the wheat grass already contains high levels of minerals it hasn’t had the time required to process complex carbohydrates which can be found in wheatgrass grown over winter.

Once the wheatgrass is ready to be processed it is usually processed into many forms, which often include wheat grass powder (Often made by drying and crushing the wheat grass blades into a fine powder) wheatgrass capsules (basically the powdered wheatgrass filled into capsules for easy digestion) wheatgrass tablets (again typically the powder cold pressed into tablet form) and wheat grass juice. (The wheatgrass blades are put through a specialist wheatgrass juicer which grinds the liquid out of the wheat grass leaving essential nutrients intact.)

Most forms of wheat grass are packed with a wealth of health boosting properties, with a large range of vitamins enzymes, minerals and amino acids. Wheat grass also consists of at least 70% chlorophyll, which is very similar to blood due to its DNA structure. This means our bodies can use the nutritional content in wheatgrass extemely easily.

Wheat grass has been used for decades but it has only recently reached the united kingdom and it can now be found online and at almost all juice bars. Wheat grass has been in use for a lot of medical ailments and can be used on the skin for external skin complaints such as acne and eczema. When consumed internally it can help detoxify the blood stream replenishing it with essential nutrients which are essential for optimum health.

Remodeling a Kitchen from the Ground Up

I remember when we bought our first house, how much work we needed to do and how much fun it was going to be getting to remodel every square inch of the place because it was ours. We had previously lived in a rental and you didn’t dare do too much to fix it up because that money wasn’t going to come back with you. The house we rented belonged to someone else, we were just getting by. When you finally own your own home, the freedom to do whatever you want is truly liberating. It can also be expensive.

The biggest project was the kitchen. The kitchen was so old the wiring was from 1930, old knob and tube and was very dangerous. It’s a good thing we weren’t using an FHA loan because they never would have approved it. I’m amazed the inspectors didn’t care, for some reason they made us put vinyl siding on the garage because that wasn’t finished, but they didn’t care at all about the disasterous and dangerous state of the kitchen.

We did a lot of research on various topics related to kitchen remodeling, especially stock vs custom kitchen cabinets because we were doing it ourselves and wanted to do it right the first time.

We completely rebuilt the kitchen from the studs back up to the drywall. That meant I got to pick out new kitchen cabinets, and any appliances we needed due to ours being a bit old. Let me tell you, designing a kitchen from the bottom up is harder than you’d think. We worked with the designers at Menards, who helped us consider appliance placement, traffic patterns, cabinet styles and sizes, and guided us to buy during the best sale so we could get a free sink base and a huge discount on the cabinets themselves. We even got down to the nitty gritty items like ceramic cabinet knobs and drawer inserts.

It was fun. I hope I don’t have to do it again for a while, and cooking in our living room was incredibly difficult. We did most of the work ourselves, actually I think we did all of it ourselves, even hanging the cabinets, so it probably took a little longer than if professionals were there. But it came out fabulously well and I still love it now, 8 years later.
